During a recent trip to Baltimore, I decided to start a photo-essay on my homtown's long-standing tradition of duckpin bowling. For those unfamiliar with the sport, duckpin bowling is similar to standard bowling, but with smaller pins and balls. Each bowler gets three rolls per frame, rather than two. The East Coast is littered witih small, charming, privately owned duckpi alleys, the great majority of which are located in Maryland. Unfortunately, their numbers are dwindling and many bowlers are having to leave their neighborhood lanes to bowl at large chain bowling alleys that are not exclusively duckpin.

I only had time to shoot twice on this trip, once at Charm City Bowling and once with the Seniors League at Patterson Bowling Lanes. I plan on continuing this series during my future trips to Baltimore, so check back periodically for updates. For more info on duckpin bowling, check out http://www.robinsweb.com/duckpin.
